At SPN we recognise the importance of STEM skills (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) in preparing our students for their future. In 2017 we held a very successful STEM-athon school fundraiser, where students spent a day completing activities with a Science, Engineering and Technology focus. This year, on Monday 3 September we are holding a similar whole school fundraising event, our SPN MATHS-a-thon. Our MATHS-a-thon will involve every student K-6 participating in six challenging and fun Mathematics activities across the day. Sponsor cards that include information for this event will be coming home today. We encourage children to ask family, neighbours and friends to sponsor them to complete each MATHS-a-thon activity. We ask that all sponsorship money be collected and returned to your child’s class teacher after the Maths-a-thon.
For every $5 children raise for our school they will receive a raffle ticket e.g. ($20 = 4 tickets in raffle, $50 = 10 tickets in raffle). These tickets will go into a raffle prize draw for K-2, Yr 3-4 and Yr 5-6. The final raffle will be held at Friday’s assembly on the 21st September.
The class that raises the highest amount – (average amount per student) will get a special pizza lunch!
We are looking forward to our MATHS-a -thon fundraiser that is being held as part of our SPN events in National Literacy and Numeracy Week.
